City Streets

A grouping centred on the life and atmosphere of urban streets, drawn together through works such as "Tram Below the Sé, Lisbon", "Two Trams, Lisbon", "Half-Timbered Square, Frankfurt" and "Narrow Street at Dusk". The pieces move between specific cities and more anonymous corners of the old European town, finding their subject in cobblestones and tram lines, lantern light and fading sun.

Several works return to the quieter, more intimate register: "The Walker, Narrow Lane", "Old Town Street, Evening" and "Lantern on the Night Wall" all suggest the city at a particular hour, when foot traffic thins and architecture reasserts itself. Others, like "Red Awnings, Sunny Corner" and "Terracotta Street at Sunset", lean into warmth and colour, catching the street in a more generous light. Together they trace a sustained interest in the urban fabric as a place of mood and passage rather than spectacle.
